The 25 top US hospitals for diabetes care
Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, is the top hospital in the United States for diabetes and endocrinology care, according to new rankings published by U.S. News and World Report. It was also listed as the No. 3 hospital for cardiology, heart surgery and vascular surgery.
Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston and New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia and Cornell are tied at No. 2 on the diabetes and endocrinology rankings. Meanwhile, UCLA Medical Center and NYU Langone Hospitals in New York rounded out the top five.
These rankings, released each summer, are designed to help patients find the best hospital possible when seeking care. Multiple specialties are included. For the diabetes and endocrinology category, a total of 660 diabetes hospitals were considered.
“Choosing the right hospital to match your needs shouldn't be a guessing game,” Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News, said in a statement.
Mayo Clinic issued a statement of its own highlighting the facility’s high ranking in multiple U.S News and World Report lists.
“Setting the standard for patient-centered excellence is a tremendous responsibility, and one our teams take very seriously,” said Gianrico Farrugia, MD, president and CEO of Mayo Clinic. “Our steadfast focus at Mayo Clinic is to globally transform healthcare for people everywhere.”
The Mayo Clinic locations in Phoenix and Jacksonville, Florida, were also ranked among the top 25 diabetes and endocrinology hospitals in the United States.
