Mehran has been recognized with a long list of prestigious awards over the years, including ACC’s Bahr Award of Excellence in 2023 and the European Society of Cardiology’s Gold Medical in 2025.
“I am honored and excited to assume this unique leadership role within the College,” Mehran said in a statement. “The ACC is a remarkable global organization devoted to improving human health by transforming cardiovascular care. Our members are on the front lines every day seeking evidence, diagnosing diseases and caring for patients.”
During her time as the ACC’s president, Mehran has said she wants to make global partnerships and member engagement two of her top priorities.
“I am optimistic about our future and our collective ability to shape it, guided by science and driven by a commitment to caring for the most vulnerable patients,” she said.
During Mehran’s first official address as president, she reflected on how her journey from being an “awkward adolescent girl” in Tehran to embracing cardiology and getting involved with ACC for the first time. Her message was one of acceptance, innovation and hope.
