Cardiologist abducted in Nigeria
A cardiologist was abducted on Wednesday, Dec. 9, in Calabar, Nigeria. Officials are said to be working to secure the doctor’s release.
Vanguard News Nigeria reported on the incident. According to their coverage, the victim was Vincent Uhegbu Maduka, a specialist at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital. He was taken after attending a church service.
A driver was also abducted. He was eventually released by the perpetrators, but they did beat him before letting him go.
The Nigerian Medical Association responded to the news by going on strike. The group hopes this action will urge the perpetrators to release Maduka.
