Cardiologist arrested for allegedly sexually abusing patients—officials seek other victims
Ali Ghasemzadeh, MD, a cardiologist in Georgetown, Ohio, has been arrested on charges of rape, sexual battery and gross sexual imposition. He has been accused of “inappropriate sexual conduct” during routine medical examinations by multiple patients.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office is not sharing certain details due to the ongoing nature of this investigation. However, based on evidence officials have gathered so far, there is a belief that there may be additional victims who "experienced inappropriate, unwanted or unexplained sexual contact or conduct" at the hands of Ghasemzadeh while seeking medical care.
“The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who believes they may have been subjected to inappropriate conduct by Dr. Ghasemzadeh, or who has information relevant to this investigation, to contact the Brown County Sheriff’s Office,” according to an official statement. “Individuals are encouraged to come forward regardless of how much time has passed since the incident.”
The statement added that anyone who does come forward will be treated with "dignity, respect, and sensitivity."
Ghasemzadeh, who is 63 years old, was booked at Brown County Jail on Monday, July 26, at approximately 10:30 a.m. He remains in custody.
