Two NY providers slated to merge cardiology programs

Two New York health providers, Albany Medical Center in and Columbia Memorial Health in Hudson, will merge their cardiology departments as they aim to strengthen services at the Hudson Hospital, reports the Times Union.

About two years ago, Columbia Memorial asked the state for permission to become part of the Albany Med umbrella. Since then, Albany Med has been helping out Columbia Memorial in other specialty areas, including obstetrics and gynecology, neurosurgery, orthopedics and radiology.

Last year, Albany Med helped Columbia Memorial recruit a new cardiologist, which increased the number of heart specialists in Hudson to six.
