ASPC launches new journal focused on preventive cardiology
The American Society for Preventive Cardiology (ASPC) has announced its plans to launch a new academic journal, the American Journal of Preventive Cardiology.
“Preventive cardiology has witnessed exponential growth over the past few decades in the available clinical tools and new knowledge,” ASPC President Amit Khera, MD, said in a prepared statement. “We are excited to provide a central home for the evolving science and clinical practice in this field for practitioners and researchers dedicated to this discipline.”
The open-access, peer-reviewed journal will cover “all salient matters pertaining to the prevention of cardiovascular disease.” The American Journal of Preventive Cardiology will be published quarterly by Elsevier, with its debut issue scheduled for Spring 2020.
Sergio Fazio, MD, PhD, is the journal’s first editor-in-chief. Fazio currently serves as the director of the Center for Preventive Cardiology at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland.
“We welcome submissions from all who live and breathe preventive cardiology and have rigorous and meaningful results to share with the wider community,” Fazio said in the statement. “The main objective of the AJPC as the long hand of the society is to help chisel the definition, boundaries, and core and ancillary competencies of the medical art we call preventive cardiology.”
