Siemens Healthineers unveils new AI-powered CCTA software

Siemens Healthineers has announced new imaging software designed to help clinicians manage patients with suspected coronary artery disease (CAD). The company’s Syngo.CT Coronary Cockpit uses advanced artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to evaluate coronary CT angiography (CCTA) images, helps cardiologists plan ahead before percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and improve cath lab efficiency.

CCTA’s growing impact in modern cath labs continues to be one of cardiology’s biggest trends. In fact, experts believe the modality will soon be—if it is not already—the centerpiece of care for all CAD patients. Siemens Healthineers built this new software to be integrated into the company’s dual-source and photo-counting CT scanners. Its AI algorithms provide automated segmentation, labeling and visualization, allowing the care team to review a detailed map of the patient’s coronary plaques. This helps them finalize their treatment strategy well before any procedures are performed.

“There is a lot of information that is locked within CT images,” Balint Szilveszter, MD, PhD, a cardiologist with Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary, said in a statement. “Syngo.CT Coronary Cockpit is an automated tool that provides a fast approach to unlock this information to include it in our everyday clinical routine. The information can be used for optimizing medical therapy or to plan PCI procedures before even entering the cath lab.”

“With Syngo.CT Coronary Cockpit, we combine our expertise in CT imaging and interventional therapy to help people with coronary artery disease live longer, healthier lives,” added Philipp Fischer, head of CT for Siemens Healthineers. “This joint approach paves the way for a future where CT not only diagnoses but actively guides treatment decisions. It marks an important step toward CT-guided PCI and brings us closer to personalized, minimally invasive care.”

Siemens Healthineers announced the launch of Syngo.CT Coronary Cockpit at RSNA 2025 in Chicago, one the largest healthcare conferences in the world.
