Two medical device companies have announced a transaction that could shake up the U.S. electrophysiology market. 

The funds, including a significant investment from Johnson & Johnson, are expected to go toward expanding access to the company's HyperVue Imaging System and exploring new features.

These companies were already part of the Johnson & Johnson family, but they had still retained their previous brand names. Now, each one is officially going by Johnson & Johnson MedTech. 

Imaging experts have said the move could reshape the financial landscape for hospitals offering Cardiac CT services.

The Florida-based healthcare company, already a leading name in cardiac data management, said the acquisition will help its technology reach more heart teams than ever before.

Medications that target obesity are not typically covered by Medicare. When the FDA approved semaglutide as a way to treat certain cardiovascular risks, however, CMS said Medicare coverage was on the table.
