Agfa HealthCare launches Enterprise Imaging for Cardiology at ACC.15
February 17, 2015 -- Agfa HealthCare announced today the commercial launch of its Enterprise Imaging for Cardiology Suite and strategic relationship with TomTec to provide a unified cardiology diagnostic and clinical imaging solution. The solution will be on display at the American College of Cardiology (ACC) 2015 Scientific Session & Expo, March 14-16, 2015 in San Diego.
Agfa HealthCare Enterprise Imaging is a care-centric workflow platform which is standards-based, improves interoperability, and enables a comprehensive patient health record across departments within a single facility or between multiple facilities. Hospital groups, Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs), or public and private health information exchanges (HIEs) can develop and efficiently share unified patient records containing both images and textual information. This platform offers hospitals and networks a long-term, value-based answer that aligns with their EHR strategy by having departments such as Cardiology, Radiology, Ophthalmology and any department, all working within the same imaging system.
Latest technological advantages allow for dynamic and adaptive information flows
Key to its functionality, Enterprise Imaging for Cardiology leverages TomTec’s industry leading multimodality platform for image analysis and review. TomTec’s processing toolsets are designed to be integral to the Cardiology Suite and do not require separate services to be deployed or configured. Powerful, task-based workflows go far beyond the worklists of the past. The latest technological advancements are leveraged allowing for dynamic and adaptive flow of information to users, locations, and departments based on myriad different variables. Clinicians can perform their work in a single session, obviating the need to go to different departments, different workstations, and different systems. With Enterprise Imaging for Cardiology there is no need to utilize multiple advanced processing solutions thus removing the extra steps required and enhancing workflow efficiency.
“The combination of Agfa HealthCare and TomTec’s long-term expertise in cardiology IT has allowed us to design an imaging platform that provides the services and task-based workflows hospitals require,” stated Gregor Malischnig, Chief Marketing Officer, TomTec Imaging Systems. “We believe this synergy offers the potential to revolutionize image management within cardiology and beyond.”
Changing the game at the enterprise level
“The development of departmental solutions has resulted in the creation of silos of information. These silos are exacerbated by the breadth of clinical data in cardiology,” stated James Jay, Global Vice President, Imaging IT, Agfa HealthCare. “Equally challenging is connecting this information outside the cardiology department. As we design solutions to tackle the challenges of healthcare today, connecting care teams across the enterprise is at the top of our list. There have been disparate attempts to try to get cardiology specific data and images to other users via 3rd party integrations and interfaces, but these attempts have proven somewhat unsuccessful in completing the visual health infographic of a patient. The Agfa Enterprise Imaging Suite provides hospitals and networks with a long-term, value-based diagnostic clinical imaging solution that improves collaboration across disciplines, reduces costs and increases operational efficiency. This is not a PACS with a new name or a VNA trying to claim it has workflow; Agfa HealthCare has changed the game with a system designed to really tackle imaging at the enterprise level.”
