Two new JACC journals to launch next year
The American College of Cardiology is launching two new journals in 2019, with one devoted to cardiovascular medicine case reports and the other focusing on the intersection of cardiology and cancer care.
Both journals are accepting applications for editor-in-chief through Jan. 15, and five-year terms are scheduled to begin in March. JACC: CardioOncology is targeting September 2019 for its first online publications, while JACC: Case Reports will begin publishing material in June.
“The goal of JACC: Case Reports is to publish high quality, educationally valuable case reports, case series, images and quality improvement projects covering all aspects of cardiology,” according to a JACC page that details the new journal and serves as a starting point for the editor-in-chief applications. “The journal aims to serve as a publication vehicle for early career cardiologists and members of the cardiovascular care team, and as a forum for mentorship on the review and publication process.”
JACC: CardioOncology will publish original research and review articles pertaining to the budding field, including the oncologic treatment of patients with cardiovascular disease and cardiovascular care for cancer survivors. It will also focus on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cardiotoxicity.
The new publications will increase the number of JACC journals to eight. In addition to the flagship Journal of the American College of Cardiology, five subjournals in the family are already in circulation: JACC: Heart Failure, JACC: Basic to Translational Science, JACC: Cardiovascular Imaging, JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions and JACC: Electrophysiology and Arrhythmia.
