ACC takes on DOAC use with new scientific statement

Rivaroxaban (Xarelto) is among the direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) including in the new 2026 ACC consensus statement on the use of DOACs.

Direct oral anticoagulants continue to be underutilized and inappropriately dosed. The American College of Cardiology hopes a new scientific statement can help address those issues and provide clinicians with an updated look at this important topic.

FDA approves labeling change for Gore EVAR devices

Meet the AnchorMan: New LAAC device noninferior to Watchman after 1 year

Patients were randomized to undergo treatment with the new-look AnchorMan or the Watchman 2.5. A follow-up study comparing the AnchorMan to the Watchman FLX and FLX Pro devices is already planned.

Medtronic recalls heart valve delivery system due to safety risk

Transcatheter pulmonary valve replacement (TPVR) with Medtronic’s self-expanding Harmony valve is both safe and effective after more than a year, according to new real-world data published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.[1]

The same device was previously recalled back in 2022. Customers are urged to return any unused delivery systems included in the recall to Medtronic.

3-in-1 polypill linked to better heart failure outcomes

The World Health Organization (WHO) has officially endorsed the use of polypills—fixed combinations of multiple medicines contained in a single pill—for the prevention of cardiovascular disease, adding them to the latest edition of the WHO Model List of Essential Medicines.

The daily polypill was also associated with improved drug adherence, according to new research out of UT Southwestern.

Cardiologists highlight early success with leaflet modification device for valve-in-valve TAVR
