GE HealthCare announces 3 new ultrasound imaging systems
GE HealthCare has unveiled three major new additions to its Vivid cardiovascular ultrasound portfolio: Vivid Explorer, Vivid Advanced and Vivid Focus. Each imaging system was built with a different purpose in mind. They are all powered by cSound, the software-based imaging architecture at the heart of GE HealthCare’s Vivid Pioneer cardiovascular ultrasound system, and offer advanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.
- The Vivid Explorer system was designed to serve high-volume echo labs and help users perform routine interventional procedures. It includes advanced 4D, multi-plane and 2D imaging features built for capturing transthoracic echocardiography (TTE), transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) images.
- The Vivid Advanced system was designed for mid-size hospitals and cardiology practices that offer comprehensive cardiac imaging services. It can be used to perform a variety of tests, including 2D TTE, multi-plane TEE and 2D ICE.
- The Vivid Focus system includes GE HealthCare’s new 4Sc-RS probe. It was built with “everyday cardiac imaging” in mind.
“The imaging needs of an echo lab, a cardiology practice, and an interventional environment are not the same, and we’ve spent a lot of time with care teams in each of those settings to understand where technology can make the greatest difference,” Jyoti Gera, CEO of cardiovascular and interventional solutions with GE HealthCare, said in a prepared statement. “Developing Vivid Explorer, Vivid Advanced and Vivid Focus on the same foundation as Vivid Pioneer allows us to meet these unique needs while creating a more connected family of systems that deliver Vivid performance and the Vivid experience.”
GE HealthCare unveiled these three new offerings at ESC Congress 2026 in Munich. The company also plans on featuring other advanced imaging systems, including the ComboLab AltiX AI.i and the ViewPoint 6, at the conference.
Back in 2025, GE HealthCare officially launched Vivid Pioneer at the same meeting. At the time, it described the deluxe system as its “most advanced, ultra-premium and adaptive cardiovascular ultrasound system yet.”
