Cardiologist dies after being stabbed by a former patient
A cardiologist in China has died after being attacked by a knife-wielding former patient.
Hu Shuyun, a 38-year-old specialist at Jishui County People’s Hospital, was attacked on Tuesday, Jan. 26.
According to a report from Daily Mail, the 43-year-old suspect was allegedly upset with how he had been treated by the doctor. That suspect is in custody, and an investigation is underway.
“My husband spends his day between the hospital and home,” the doctor’s partner said in an interview with The Beijing News. “He would read and work more after he gets home and he rarely goes out. My mind is all blank right now.”
The Daily Mail noted that doctors in China are attacked—both physically and verbally—by patients at an alarming level. In fact, one survey found that 66% of doctors in China had experienced such abuse.
