Cardiologist pleads guilty after police find evidence he discussed engaging in sexual acts with children
A cardiologist has pleaded guilty to two charges of possessing child abuse materials on his phone, according to a new report from ABC News in Australia.
Andrew Douglas McGavigan, 48, a cardiologist from Adelaide, South Australia, was arrested in December 2020 after police officers raided his home. Police found illegal photos McGavigan’s phone.
Police also found evidence of communication between McGavigan and another party about engaging in sexual activity with children in Thailand.
ABC News, a public news service in Australia, also reported that McGavigan’s medical registration has been suspended. He is due to appear in court again in April.
