Alabama cardiologist faces lawsuits from several patients
Nearly 40 lawsuits have been filed against Seydi Aksut, a cardiologist at Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma, Ala., by his former patients.
The patients, which filed their lawsuits in Alabama state court, are alleging that Aksut may have performed uneccessay heart procedures on them that, in some cases, included the placing of stents. They had voiced concerns that he performed the unecssary procedures to make more money.
"It's just the greed where he goes in for an operation that he doesn't need, and then he is hounded for bills for that procedure he never needed," said Gerald Brooks, an attorney representing several former patients in lawsuits against Aksut.
